New Golden Bears settle in at orientation

August 16 marks the first day of classes at WVU Tech. It’s also a milestone day for the university, where it means the beginning of the institution’s operation entirely on the Beckley campus.

Anyone who’s been through campus knows that’s not the start of activity, though. Over the last few days, more than 300 WVU Tech employees and another 300 new students have been settling into their offices, classrooms, labs and residence halls.

Boy scouts help spruce up campus during Jamboree day of service

36 Boy Scouts from East Texas helped out on campus for a day of service project.

On Wednesday, July 26, nearly 40 boy scouts from Troop 4207 of the East Texas Area Council spent the day on WVU Tech’s Beckley campus. The scouts spent a full work day pulling weeds, mulching flowerbeds and painting parking lot barriers in preparation for WVU Tech’s upcoming semester.

Girls in STEM: Summer academy program marks another year of career exploration

On Friday, July 14, more than 20 high school girls from throughout the state gathered with their parents on WVU Tech’s campus for a picnic. The celebration capped the university’s weeklong STEM Summer Academy for Girls, where students spent their days conducting experiments, exploring STEM fields and meeting with women who have built successful careers in STEM industries.
