A letter to the Beckley community from Campus President Carolyn Long

WVU Tech Campus President Carolyn Long.

We’re so pleased to share that WVU Tech’s first day of classes is Wednesday, August 16. We’ve been preparing for this day for quite some time, and now we’re here thanks to the hard work of our employees and the support of the people of Beckley.

As we get nearer to the first day of classes, we ask for your support once again.

We’ll have students moving into residence halls throughout the week. We’ll have faculty and staff setting up their offices. We’ll have folks visiting campus from all over the world. That means increased traffic in and around campus. As we get settled, we appreciate your understanding and patience. Our family is important to us, so we also ask that you visit or pass through campus with care.

As the days bring us closer to the start of the semester, we look forward to all that is to come.

We’re excited about the new activity on and around our campus. We’re thrilled to play baseball at Epling Stadium, swim at the YMCA, run at the Summit and compete in men’s and women’s soccer at the Paul Cline Memorial Sports Complex.

We look forward to seeing our more than 1,300 students spend their time outside of the classroom interacting with our new Beckley community. As an institution, we’re looking forward to calling many of you our partners in the coming years. As Golden Bears, we look forward to calling all of you friends.

Thank you for the warm welcome and for inviting us to be a part of your community. And if you see a Golden Bear while you’re out and about, let them know they’re home.
