Rhonda Donaldson joined the College Library Director Mentoring Program (CLDMP) in October 2025. Established in 1992, CLDMP supports first-year college library directors at small, four-year colleges through mentorship, cohort learning, and community support. Participants are paired with a mentor, and Donaldson says she’s already gained support and knowledge from her mentor. They will be visiting each other’s college libraries soon.

“I am so excited to be part of this seminar,” Donaldson said. “This program will provide a supportive environment for us to define a clear vision and strategic direction for our libraries and expand collaboration both on campus and within the community.”

In a constantly changing educational landscape, the way students and community members interact with resources like libraries is evolving. Artificial Intelligence and online academic databases may seem like they render the traditional library obsolete. However, Donaldson thinks there is still a lot that college librarians can offer, and she is aiming to improve the way WVU Tech’s library operates through innovation and embracing new perspectives.

“My goal is to build a more inclusive library that centers student learning and ensures equitable access to information. This program will also connect me with colleagues across the country who face many of the same challenges as small, four-year colleges and universities.”

WVU Tech’s President, T. Ramon Stuart, Ph.D. says he is looking forward to the valuable insight and resources the program provides.

“The insights and experiences Rhonda will bring back from CLDMP will strengthen the way we serve our students and campus community. We are proud of her for pursuing this opportunity and look forward to seeing how it helps us continue enhancing the student experience at WVU Tech,” said Stuart.
