In electronics class, you’ll learn how to build circuits and construct simple motors. You’ll even craft small generators and create digital timers.
Want to learn how to process a crime scene like a pro? In forensics class, you’ll explore the science behind fingerprints, blood spatter analysis, trace evidence and even buried bodies.
In “You and the Automobile,” you’ll learn about engines, transmissions, brakes, exhaust systems and electric cars. You’ll even get to see the popular Mini Baja Buggy racer, built entirely by WVU Tech engineering students.
During the week, you’ll work with a team to design, build and operate a robot as you compete against other students in our Camp STEM robotics project.
During Camp STEM, you’ll meet professors who are experts in their fields and college students studying the STEM fields that interest you. You’ll attend classes, conduct experiments and learn about the exciting careers waiting for men and women in STEM fields.
The camp is $500 for the week and includes all meals, residence hall room, t-shirts, camp activities and field trips. Scholarships are available (thanks to our generous industry sponsors). Those interested in those scholarships should contact Dr. Nathan Galinsky directly at 304-929-1651 or email ngalinsk@mail.wvu.edu.
Students will be eating in the WVU Tech Bears Den, which offers a wide range of delicious food options.
Camp STEM’s instructors are excellent teachers who are experts in the fields of engineering, mathematics, the basic sciences and forensic investigation. Our instructors will guide campers through various experiments, provide detailed lectures and demonstrations, and attend field trips. All of our teachers are encouraging and will provide guidance and advice as campers explore STEM fields.
Camp STEM’s counselors are upper-class WVU Tech students who are majoring in biology, chemistry, engineering, engineering technology or mathematics. Our counselors are selected for their academic excellence and experience as camp counselors, resident assistants, or high school outreach activities coordinators.
Camp STEM Counselors live in the residence halls with you, eat with you in the Bears Den, help you with your projects and talk to you about their majors and what it’s like to study STEM fields in college.
