Chase Bragg

Biology and Psychology
Fayetteville, WV | Class of 2025

Chase will be attending WVU School of Pharmacy in the fall.

What is your favorite memory from your time at WVU Tech?

The people and the professors and you get a one-on-one experience. They take the time to get to know you and who you are, what you want to do, and how they can help you, so the best memory is just getting to know everybody. It will be bittersweet leaving.

What did you enjoy most about your programs?

I really liked the molecular aspects of it and the medicinal things I learned, and the labs. In psychology you get to work with the rats in the rat lab. The labs were fun and the people were great. I got a little attached to my rat even though she bit me twice.

How did Tech prepare you for the future?

It really taught me how to study and time management, and how to use my time effectively.

Which person at Tech has had the biggest impact on your college experience? How has that person helped you?

All of my professors. Dr. Hall and Dr. Cook were great and I learned a lot from them. All of the biology professors – Dr. Jiminez, Dr. B, Dr. Ramesh, Dr. Hamati, Dr .Raymond and Dr. Horton, all had their own pieces in the makeup of who I became academically. Dr. Ramesh was my capstone mentor and helped me a lot with my understanding of neurotransmission and dopamine.

As a soon-to-be graduate, what is your best advice for incoming students?

This is a big one – don't always think there is one path you can take. It wasn’t until last summer that I applied to pharmacy school because I realized there was more out there than medical school and I could help people in a different way. What I really liked to study was the pharmacy aspect, how drugs affect the brain. Don’t limit yourself to one thing, you can do anything you want! Oh, and don’t let a bad grade discourage you.

What will you miss most about Tech?

The people I’ve met, my friends and professors.
