With today’s (April 26) announcement of a new interim chancellor for the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, Carolyn Long will return to her post as campus president of  West Virginia University Institute of Technology effective Monday (April 29).

Long’s return to her post at the Beckley campus had been  announced previously, effective May 16, but the HEPC decision enables her to return sooner from her stint as HEPC’s interim chancellor.

“WVU was glad HEPC was able to benefit from Carolyn’s wisdom and leadership in an important time, but those are exactly the reasons we’re excited to welcome her back,” WVU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Joyce McConnell said.

“I have ached to get back to my students at Tech, so I welcome this development with open arms,” Long said.

Joan Neff, who served as Tech’s interim campus president, will resume her full-time duties as provost effective with Long’s return.

Earlier today, HEPC appointed Sarah Tucker to serve as the interim chancellor.
