WVU Tech to host Golden Bear Alumni Weekend March 1-2

An invitation that reads: Golden Bear Alumni Weekend, March first through second, 2019.

WVU Tech's popular Golden Bear Alumni Weekend will return March 1-2, 2019. The two-day gathering brings in hundreds of guests to reconnect and to honor outstanding WVU Tech graduates.

This year's event will recognize Alumni of the Year Rebecca McPhail, '96 (College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences) and David Strader, '72 (Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences). The event will also honor Nelson Distinguished Young Alumnus Hillary Parcell, '08.

Golden Bear Weekend will also see the induction of Valerie Murphy, '85Darrell Volney, '91 and Scott Burrow, '95 into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

"This is always such a special event and it has grown over the years as we welcome alumni home and celebrate our graduates who have gone on to do incredible things," said WVU Tech's University Events and Alumni Relations Coordinator, Ashton Critchley.

That's because Golden Bear Alumni Weekend, now in its third year, offers a wide range of ways for alumni to connect. This year's weekend will include an informal social, breakfast on Saturday, an all-Greek alumni reunion and social, a reception and dinners honoring the year's awardees. Fifty-year graduates will also be recognized during the activities on Saturday evening.

"It's one of the best events of the year because it's more than awards ceremonies," said Critchley. "We spend time catching up with friends both old and new, and we get to share the great things our students and faculty have been working on."

Golden Bear Alumni Weekend will be hosted at Adventures on the Gorge.
