Upward Bound Olympics 2018

WVU Tech’s Upward Bound program is one of the oldest in the nation, and this week, the program hosted the state’s Upward Bound Olympics. Hundreds of Upward Bound students from throughout the state visited WVU Tech’s campus for a day of games and friendly competition. Students played moonball (think baseball, but with a kickball), flag football, badminton and basketball. They ran a 5K color run. They tested their minds in giant chess, checkers and trivia. They flexed their artistic muscles in musical easels, where teams had to create a work of art using only one medium per teammate. And more importantly, they connected with students from all parts of the Mountain State and from all walks of life.

In addition to WVU Tech’s Upward Bound students, the event hosted students and staff from Concord University, Davis & Elkins College, Marshall University, Salem University, Shepherd University and West Virginia University.
