His name was Dr. Shanmugam Armugam Swami – he went by S.A., or simply “Swami” – and his legacy as a dedicated educator has been honored in the form of a newly established scholarship.

Fulbright Scholarship Program information sessions to be hosted on campus December 4

On Monday, December 4, WVU Tech students, faculty and administrators will have a chance to learn more about the Fulbright Program, where students, professors and professionals can earn scholarships to study or conduct research abroad.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1.1 million people in the United States live with HIV and that one in seven of these people aren’t even aware that they’re infected. What’s more, college students fall within the category that makes up nearly a quarter of all new cases – and they’re the least likely to have access to the care they need.
