The proceeds from the event will allow student organization members to attend conferences and competitions, bring in guest speakers and engage in other professional development opportunities.
Room #1: Alice Through The Looking Glass
We invite you to step through the looking glass where forwards is backwards and everything is not as it seems. The White Rabbit is late for an important date at the Mad Hatter’s maniacally mad tea party. Unfortunately, he can’t remember when tea time is and where his pocket watch has gone. Help the White Rabbit get his pocket watch back and make tea time. Work quickly to escape Wonderland before the Queen of Hearts catches you wandering her realm. Solve the riddles of the Cheshire Cat and Caterpillar to find the pocket watch in time, or it’s off with your head.
“Who in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle.”
-Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
Room #2: Crime Scene Investigation: Beckley
The case of the Beckley Assassin remains unsolved. No witnesses. No leads. No evidence that links someone to the crime scenes. The city is now bringing in a new team of investigators to take a fresh look at the evidence in an attempt to finally crack the case. Does your team have what it takes to reconstruct the puzzle before the case becomes cold? Hurry, the clock is ticking. A majority of the room will mimic a true working environment. Designed by the faculty and students in the Forensic Investigation Program, be prepared to start thinking like Sherlock.
“…This is evidence that does not forget. It is not confused by the excitement of the moment. It is not absent because human witnesses are. It is factual evidence. Physical evidence cannot be wrong, it cannot perjure itself, and it cannot be wholly absent. Only human failure to find it, study and understand it, can diminish its value.”
-Dr. Paul L. Kirk, Forensic Scientist
