Guillermo D. Hahn, Ph.D.

Professor of Civil Engineering and Construction Management
304.929.1642 Robert C. Byrd Learning Resource Center, Room 300T Download CV

Dr. Hahn's engineering interests center on the analysis and design of structural systems against various phenomena including static loads and dynamic actions due to seismic ground motions, moving forces, water waves, and vortex induced excitations.

Before joining West Virginia University Institute of Technology, he had experience in academia and professional practice, having been a tenured faculty member in civil engineering at Vanderbilt University, and performed various roles in industry including engineering design, consulting and project management for building structures and deep-water offshore platforms and associated pipelines and risers for oil and gas production and transport.

Dr. Hahn can teach engineering courses in statics, mechanics of materials, mechanics of fluids, reinforced concrete design, steel design, structural analysis, and structural dynamics. With much interest in education and research, he received a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Rice University in 1986.
