CAREER OPPORTUNITIES: Chemical Technicians function as a team member in performing chemical and physical analyses associated with the implementation of established processes like water, fuel, flue gas desulfurization, and environmental treatment programs. Control Area Operator has the authority and obligation, during normal and emergency operating conditions, to maintain the reliability and integrity of multiple Control Areas operated by Allegheny Energy Supply through coordination and control of energy schedules at the interconnection facilities. The Allegheny Energy Supply control center will be staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Engineers function as team leaders, team members, or as individuals to perform tasks related to budgeting, scheduling, and support work for the engineering, construction, and operations of electric generation and associated environmental facilities. Assignments are made by the Generation Division Management Team and Manager, Business Performance. Individuals are selected according to technical and business experience, interest, availability, and documented ability to effectively participate or lead in a team environment. Lines Engineering Designers (LED) function as a team within Allegheny Power and both design and serve as the company contact person for residential, commercial and industrial customers’ requested new service, the upgrading of existing service and the relocation of facilities. Performs the design work necessary for reliability and system improvement work. LED assists Electric Operations Managers in coordinating and scheduling normal work and service restoration during storm trouble.

Engineer Technician, Controls provides technical and manual duties required to test, install, maintain and repair protective relay systems, telemetering, power line carrier, programmable logic controllers and supervisory control equipment in substations and power stations.

Substation Electricians perform all of the duties involved in the safe and efficient installation, removal, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of energized and de-energized substation electrical equipment including company- and customer-owned facilities; assists higher rated employees, contractors, and manufacturer’s representatives in the performance of any duties for which qualified; performs work of a lower classification; performs other work as assigned; has a joint responsibility with other crew members for the safety, training, progress, and general welfare of the crew; and may act as lead man in a crew. – Full-time and Summer Positions
