Symposium
Division
The
symposium is an oral competition.
The presentation may be related to an entry in the Investigatory Projects
Division, Display Division, or Submitted Paper Division of the Fair.
The symposium is open to individuals or groups.
Each
participant (individual or group) will be given five
minutes to present a chosen topic. The use of student-generated audio-visual support, such
as graphs, tables, slides, etc., is encouraged.
A
standard slide project will be available in the presentation room.
Students should bring their slides loaded in a standard slide tray.
Any other A-V equipment can be provided if the need is indicated on the
entry application.
PowerPoint
or other computer-generated presentation may be used if the student indicates
the necessary equipment on the application.
Ideally, the student should provide his/her own laptop with the
presentation on it. If this is not
possible, the student should bring the presentation on a CD-ROM in a Windows
compatible format and a computer will be made available.
Floppy disks, compact flash media, jump drives, and Zip disk will not be allowed. A computer projector
will be provided.
To
apply for the symposium, fill out the application
(word format) and send it to the fair director.
The form should be received by March 10, 2008; late applications will be
allowed if time permits but will not appear in the fair program.
All
applicants will be assigned a time for presentation at the Fair registration.
If the student decides not to compete in the fair, please notify the Fair
Director so that time slot can be made available to another student.
