Homecoming 2006 will be held October 13 & 14. A schedule will be posted soon.
New inserting equipment will be installed soon. The small sheetfed presses have been moved upstairs into the screen printing lab, and the old sheetfed lab will house the inserter. We just received training on the new flexo platemaking system, which was installed in March, 2006.
Bill Arnold took four students to the America*East Newspaper Operations Conference in Hershey, PA in March, 2006. Jack Nuckols attended NEXPO in Chicago in March.
Tech will become a full division of WVU in July, 2007. We currently are a regional campus. Division status means a closer relationship with the Morgantown campus, which should be a positive change. This was passed by the WV Legislature in March, 2006.
Recent visitors to the department include students from Valley High School in Smithers, WV; students from Clay County High School in Clay, WV; and students from Wayne County Vo-Tech in Wayne, WV.
The Publishing Innovation Center has received several recent grants, and construction should begin in June, 2006. Click here for additional information about this exciting project.
The Newspaper Operations Committee held their fall, 2005
meeting at Tech on Thursday, October 20, 2005.

Our new Goss Community press has been fully operational since September, 2003. A demonstration was held during the Newspaper Advisory Committee meeting on October 16, and an article about the press appeared in the Montgomery Herald on Wednesday, October 29, 2003.
The Tech Collegian is now online. View it www.wvutech.edu/collegian. The Collegian is printed in our Web Press labs on Tuesdays. PDF files of Collegian back issues from August, 2001 to the present are available on the Collegian web site. We also print the school newspapers for Riverside High School and George Washington High School, both in Kanawha County.
