WVU Tech Student SHRM Chapter Wins Merit Award
Montgomery, WV – The WVU Institute of Technology Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) was presented the Superior Merit Award during the SHRM 58th Annual Conference & Exposition in Washington, D.C. WVU Tech’s chapter was one of only 103 of 430 active chapters nationwide that received this honor.
“The Society for Human Resource Management’s student chapters help to advance the human resource profession by demonstrating their knowledge and commitment to the field of HR,” said Mr. Chuck Salvetti, SHRM’s manager of student programs. “This year’s meritorious chapters serve as models of excellence, not only to other SHRM student chapters, but also to those of other campus-based student organizations.”
This award program was established in 1972 and recognizes achievements in four distinct areas:
1) Professional operation of the chapter, 2) Professional development of members, 3) Support of the profession and 4) Partnership with SHRM. Chapters must score at least 1,901 points in these areas to receive the award.
WVU Tech’s student chapter has been active and nationally chartered since 1992. The SHRM Charleston, WV Professional Chapter was instrumental in establishing WVU Tech’s student chapter and continues to serve as WVU Tech’s parent chapter.
