WVU Tech Foundation Thirteenth Annual Scholarship
Golf Classic
Announces Tournament Winners
West Virginia
University Institute of Technology President Karen LaRoe, Tech
Foundation Executive Director Sandy Huddleston, Tech Foundation
Board President Mike Miller, and the Mayor of Montgomery Melba
White welcomed 13 teams of golfers at the Tech Foundation Inc.
Thirteenth Annual Scholarship Golf Classic. The tournament was
held at Scarlet Oaks Country Club on Thursday, August 1, 2002
and raised nearly $4,000 for academic scholarships for students
of WVU Tech in Montgomery. Top honors were presented immediately
following the tournament to the following:
First place honors
were awarded to the team from the Charleston Newspapers. The
team was comprised of David Zinn, Richard Meek, Sam Hindman, and
Bill Withrow.
Second place honors
went to the WV-American Water Company’s team of Mike Miller,
Brett Morgan, Joe Sisson, and Terry Smith.
The Tech Golden Bear
Golf Team brought home third place honors with student players
Jared Harper, Jeff Underwood, team Coach Jim Kerrigan, and
student player Jason Riffe.
Additional Prizes and
Raffle were donated by Allie’s American Grill, Charleston;
Marriott; Barnes & Noble; WVU Tech Bookstore; Brown Chevrolet,
Inc; Margaret Robinson Buttrick ’72; Embassy Suites Hotel; Glade
