WVU Tech will host the third annual Light Up Old Main event on Wednesday, December 7 at 6:00 p.m. This event, co-sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs and Office of Alumni Relations, is free and open to the entire WVU Tech campus, as well as the greater Montgomery community.
“This event is quickly becoming a university tradition. We’re pleased to be able to celebrate the upcoming holidays with our entire campus and surrounding communities,” stated Richard Carpinelli, WVU Tech Dean of Students.
As in previous years, the event will feature the official lighting of WVU Tech’s Old Main building, as well as many other holiday traditions such as hot cocoa, s’mores, cookie decorating, and pictures with Santa and Elf Monty.
In addition, the event features a student gingerbread house competition featuring entries from student organizations across campus. The gingerbread house entries will be displayed in the Tech Ballroom on Wednesday evening. The judging panel will include individuals from on and off campus. Official results will be announced at the event. A “Peoples’ Choice” category will also be open for the general public’s feedback.
“Last year’s event was one of the highlights of my first semester of college. I look forward to this event growing and becoming a huge event here on Tech’s campus. I can’t wait to see where it goes in the future,” said Adam Kiger, WVU Tech sophomore electrical engineering student.
