On Tuesday, January 19th, Mr. Rick Linio joined West Virginia University Institute of Technology as Director of Facilities. Linio brings to WVU Tech over two decades of higher education experience in the Facilities, Management, Planning and Construction Management Industry. Most recently he was District Manager for the Northeast Region of Sodexo Education Facilities Management. Prior to that position he served as District Manager for ARAMARK Facility Services with Schlumberger Oilfield Services in Houston, Texas; Director of Operations for ARAMARK Facility Services at Baylor University, in Waco, Texas; and Director of Facilities Management for the Olympic Village Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, UT.

As District Manager for the Northeast Region of Sodexo, Linio worked with vice presidents and chief financial officers within the region to develop business and facilities operations plans for higher education and independent schools. He was in charge of overall business development including; financial performance, operational assessments, sustainability and energy management, capital planning, employee training, and the development of both long and short-range objectives. Linio also ensured proper coordination of all college, university and independent school’s facility operations and capital program management with a total managed volume of $60 million.

During his tenure with Schlumberger Oilfield Services, Linio directed the entire operation of the ARAMARK Facility Services Department, overseeing the company’s 10 major campuses which covered over 100 buildings and 4 million square feet throughout the Metro Houston area. He implemented the operational policies and procedures, service response center centralization, financial accountability system, and the maintenance work order system integrations.

At Baylor University, Linio directed the Facility Department and managed various operations such as grounds and landscaping, building general services, energy management, customer service, safety and contractor services and special capital projects, directing 115 personnel. He also supervised Baylor’s $250 million, 10 year major capital construction program which included $17 million in utility upgrades.

From 1999 – 2002, Linio served as Director of Facilities for the Salt Lake City Olympic Village which provided amenities for recreation, food, and medical and religious services for 4,000 athletes and officials. He also developed and managed construction services that involved $11 million of temporary facilities and $35 million in permanent facilities, as well as site and utilities construction for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and the Olympic and Paralympics’ Villages.

Linio holds a B.S. from Morehead State University with a major in Business Administration and has an Executive Certificate in Leadership & Organizational Management from Cornell University School of Business Management.
