WVU Tech will host the second annual Light Up Old Main event on Wednesday, December 8 at 6:00 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs and is free and open to the entire WVU Tech community, as well as the greater Montgomery community.
“This annual event allows WVU Tech and surrounding communities to come together and celebrate the joy of the holidays. We are pleased to host this event again this year,” explained Richard Carpinelli, WVU Tech Dean of Students.
This year’s celebration will feature the official lighting of WVU Tech’s Old Main building and many other holiday traditions such as hot cocoa, s’mores, roasted chestnuts, cookie decorating, and pictures with Santa and Elf Monty.
In addition, the event features a student gingerbread house competition featuring entries from student organizations across campus. The gingerbread house entries will be displayed in the Tech Ballroom on Wednesday evening. A team of judges from on and off campus will be onsite Wednesday evening to announce the official results. A “Peoples’ Choice” category will also be open for the general public’s feedback.
“Students are really excited about this event. It was a lot of fun last year and I think it will be even better this year,” said Jacob Curnutte, WVU Tech SGA President.
