West Virginia University Institute of Technology is pleased to announce the 2010 Alumni of the Year: Heather Harlan from the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences and Lieutenant Colonel Jondavid DuVall from the College of Engineering and Sciences.
Harlan, CPA and partner at Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love LLP, graduated Summa Cum Laude from WVU Tech with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1994. While a student at Tech, Harlan served as treasurer for the Student Government Association, secretary of Delta Zeta Sorority, staff writer for the Tech Collegian, and tutor at the Tech Learning Center. She later earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from West Virginia University College of Law in 2001, graduating in the top 20 percent of her class.
DuVall, a 1991 WVU Tech graduate, is currently the commander of the 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron, F. E. Warren Air Force Base, located in Cheyenne Wyoming. Lieutenant Colonel DuVall entered the Air Force after completing his bachelor’s degree in science from the West Virginia Institute of Technology. He later went on to earn his Masters of Arts degree in Management and Information Systems from Webster University and a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
Since 1949, it has been an institutional tradition to honor the Tech Alumni of the Year during Homecoming Weekend. To be selected for this honor, alumni must have achieved recognition in their chosen profession, have strong service commitment, and have given time, talent, and treasure to Tech by serving as a role model of loyalty and service for all alumni.
