Forensics program teams up with Beckley PD on enhanced learning experiences
Picture this: red and blue lights bathe the park entryway as two young investigators arrive at the scene. They’re greeted by an officer from the Beckley Police Department. He tells them about the scene, that there’s a suspect in custody and that officers are interviewing potential witnesses. One investigator takes out a notebook and begins to jot down notes while the other turns on her camera. They’ve got work to do – because it’s up to them to begin piecing the puzzle together.
New student activities space opens on campus August 22
WVU Tech students and student-run organizations will have a new space to hang out and conduct organization business starting Tuesday, August 22.
First day celebration kicks off fall semester
At 7:45 in the morning, the sun burns off the last of the fog as the parking lot begins to fill. Students hike the front stairs into the Innovation building. Nursing majors in white coats mingle in front of Life Sciences. A young man with a cup of coffee and a stack of books under his arm gets directions from a faculty member. It’s the first class of the first day of classes – and WVU Tech’s campus is positively alive with activity.
How Golden Bears give back
WVU Tech graduates are known for their capability and determination. They’re also known for their spirit of giving, and that spirit is something WVU Tech students are encouraged to grow from day one.

August 16 marks the first day of classes at WVU Tech. It’s also a milestone day
for the university, where it means the beginning of the institution’s operation
entirely on the Beckley campus.
Anyone who’s been through campus knows that’s not the start of activity, though. Over the last few days, more than 300 WVU Tech employees and another 300 new students have been settling into their offices, classrooms, labs and residence halls.
