When the College is on a delay, or is closed due to
weather, Campus Safety will notify the local television and radio
stations. Some area stations are now also placing this information
on their web sites as well as announcing them on the air. If you
are in an area that is not covered by one of these stations, please do
not hesitate to call Campus Safety at 442-3101.
When snow conditions are severe enough to impact our
operations, we might expect one of these three responses to be announced
by the President.
1. Close Tech - All operations are
terminated. 2. Delay normal reporting time - All operations scheduled
to begin prior to the delayed reporting time are cancelled.
Faculty and staff are to report at the new reporting time. Classes
that would have begun prior to the delayed reporting time will commence
at the new reporting time and will finish at their normal stopping time.
3. Two Hour Delay - If the President
should decide that Tech will be on a two-hour delay, then all operations
prior to 10:00 will be suspended to allow for the teams to clean roads
and sidewalks and make the campus safe for automobile and pedestrian
traffic. At 10:00, whatever would be the normal operations commence, and
the schedule for the remainder of the day would be the same as if no
delay occurred. For example, if the two-hour delay were on a Tuesday,
then the 8:00 - 9:15 class is canceled. The 9:30 - 10:45 class starts at
10:00 and continues until 10:45. The remainder of the day would be as
usual. 4. Halt work/school activities - Students, faculty and
staff are sent home early.

Driving A delay in the starting time of school means that
classes will start at the new start time for the day. For example,
if we have a two hour delay, then classes that are scheduled to start at
10:00 a.m. will be the first classes held. If your class was to
have started at 9:30 a.m., then the class will start at 10:00 a.m. and
end at it's normal time.
