(Nonresident) WVU Tech Freshmen Scholarship and Grant Program

A nonresident's (anyone who is not a resident of West Virginia) eligibility for WVU Tech Freshmen Scholarships and Grants is assessed after the nonresident is admitted to WVU Tech. No special application is required. Apply for admission now so WVU Tech can assess your eligibility for these scholarships and grants. Since WVU Tech does not charge an application fee, the only cost to you is your time and effort.

Completing the admissions process at Tech will help you identify other aid applicable to a Tech education in addition to the Freshmen Scholarships. Your eligibility for Federal/State Grants and Federal/State Scholarships will be assessed. Your eligibility for Institutional Assistance in addition to the Freshmen Scholarships will be assessed. STEM Nonresident Freshmen Scholarship

Any nonresident admitted to WVU Tech who:

  1. satisfies the entry requirements for a STEM program
  2. has a minimum overall high school GPA of 3.00 and minimum ACT score of 24 (or SAT Equivalent of 1110), and
  3. enrolls in a STEM program

will be charged in-state tuition instead of out-of-state tuition. This scholarship is worth more than $6,000 for each academic year the recipient remains eligible for the scholarship. STEM Nonresident Freshmen Scholarship recipients are not eligible for Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Nonresident Freshmen Scholarships. Criterion

  1. Nonresidents eligible for STEM, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Nonresident Freshmen Scholarships satisfy WVU Tech's "General Requirements for Admission of High School Graduates" in addition to the academic performance criteria listed in the tables. These requirements as well as college specific and program specific requirements are listed in the WVU Tech Catalog, http://www.wvutech.edu/documents/catalog.pdf, on pages 39 through 42.
  2. STEM, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Nonresident Freshmen Scholarship recipients must complete a minimum of 24 credit hours of WVU Tech courses applicable to graduation from a particular WVU Tech program during an academic year to maintain eligibility for a subsequent academic year. Recipients can only maintain receipt of the scholarship for four contiguous academic years. Only the WVU Tech Campus Provost can grant exceptions to this criterion. Appeals for exceptions to this criterion must be submitted to the WVU Tech Campus Provost Office at least 60 days before the exception is required.
  3. STEM and Level 1 Nonresident Freshmen Scholarship recipients must have a minimum 3.00 overall GPA from WVU Tech and a minimum 3.00 professional GPA from WVU Tech at the end of the summer term before an academic year begins to maintain eligibility for that academic year. Only the WVU Tech Campus Provost can grant exceptions to this criterion. Appeals for exceptions to this criterion must be submitted to the WVU Tech Campus Provost Office for consideration at least 60 days before the exception is required.
  4. Level 2 and 3 Nonresident Freshmen Scholarship recipients must have a minimum 2.75 overall GPA from WVU Tech and a minimum 2.75 professional GPA from WVU Tech at the end of the summer term before an academic year begins to maintain eligibility for that academic year. Only the WVU Tech Campus Provost can grant exceptions to this criterion. Appeals for exceptions to this criterion must be submitted to the WVU Tech Campus Provost Office for consideration at least 60 days before the exception is required.
